The Lantern Newsletter

Today, we live in a world where people claim and even fight for their rights and sometimes the rights of others. This can be the result of being subjected to oppression and injustice, which Jesus stood against throughout His ministry. Today, many people also claim their rights out of a strong sense of independence, even often at the expense of the rights of others.

On a personal level, receiving the Holy Spirit sets us free from the slavery of sin, the old self drawing us to satisfy our own desires, usually at the expense of others. The Scripture encourage us to use our freedom to continue to choose to surrender ourselves to the Holy Spirit within us. It’s about using our free choice to surrender our free will and choose God’s way instead of our own just as Jesus and the early church did.

Galatians 6:7-10  7 Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. 8 Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. 9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. 10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.
